Yesterday was a sea day and uneventful but most people being out on tours the whole day before were tired and you didn’t see anyone till late in the day. Debbie and I went to the casino and I hit a quarter slot Double Diamond machine on one quarter for $200. We went to Michael’s Club before dinner for drinks with our friends we met from San Diego, Dave and Diane. I love talking to them as they have been EVERYWHERE so last night they told us about going to Korea. Dave is very funny. I forgot to tell you the story of the last time we were in Michael’s with Dave and Diane which was Saturday. We were all talking and having a good time and had all had 3 rounds of drinks in that hour before dinner. Michael’s is at the front of the ship and the dining room is all the way in the back so we all walked to dinner together and got to the door of the dining room and said our goodbyes. Debbie and I walked to our table and sat down. I looked around and said somethings’s not right. I don’t recognize this and then it dawned on me we were upstairs in the dining room not down. I said we need to get up like we know what we are doing and walk out and go upstairs. We got to the hall and started laughing…duh girls. We told Dave and Diane last night and we all died laughing about it but Dave made sure to point us to the stairway when we got to the dining room last night. Our table mates are Leslie and Susan and both are from California. We went to the show with them last night called I Broadway which of course was based on broadway tunes. The kids were excellent dancers and singers. We enjoyed the show and went to the casino and played blackjack and I did well but Debbie didn’t. We can never have a good night at the same time. I had a headache when we got back so took some ibuprofen and went to sleep pretty quick. Woke up to what I thought was Debbie snoring really loud which I never hear her snoring. It was annoying so rather than try to get up and wake her, I went to the bathroom and slammed the door when I went in and when I came out. Debbie woke up but the “snoring” continued. She then helped on the quest to find out where this noise was coming from. The wind was blowing so hard that apparently it broke the seal on the door. Debbie finally was able to get the door open a crack and the wind was so strong it started blowing the things we had on the desk and papers everywhere! She managed to get it closed and the noise stopped but you could hear the wind and the ship was really moving. This ship handles the sea well and although the waves are really large (Debbie and I being professional cruisers are estimating 10-15 ft. seas) the ship is not creaking and moaning like most do with these seas—very quiet and you don’t feel the movement much—good for those who get seasick. We went to breakfast and came back to the cabin to get ready for Huatulco and we found out it is prounounced (Watooco). We can see land now (land ho) and strangely we crossed a line and the seas are now smooth. We get there at noon and Debbie and I are doing the Land and Sea which of course is shopping and then a catamaran trip around the bay. I will report on that when we return and try to post some pictures tonight too. I need to get my bag together for our excursion.
Lindsay, Debbie and I saw lots of sea turtles in the ocean when we were coming into Huatulco. We saw dolphins too. I think I have a pretty good picture of one of the sea turtles for you.
We were one of the last tours to leave the theater today but one of the biggest. There were 3 bus loads of us and we were on a schedule (this is for you Kay) 3 hour tour that actually was 5. We first walk to the end of the pier and across the business or shopping area. It is very hot. These is a cute little city that is very beautiful. We learn it is a planned city and the infrastructure is already there for future development. There is an area for resorts, communities for houses and condos, shopping, etc. and they are already laid out with the roads and street lights, etc. Very nice place. We stopped for 45 minutes in the tourist area to shop and see the painting on the ceiling of the church. Beautiful picture of the Virgin Mary then Debbie and I went and found a place to have a beer and chips and salsa. We ate all the jalapenos they brought us and I think they were surprised we ate them all. Now of course, we regret that action. We toured the whole area by bus then returned to the city to board the catamaran. That at least was much cooler and we enjoyed the ride. We got to hear the ship’s horn more today than since we boarded. Apparently the captain was impatient waiting for tours to return so we could leave. Last one in pull up the gangway and we are off. We must back out of this port and then turn because it is narrow with huge rocks at the entrance. We are moving along at a pretty good clip right now because tomorrow morning we are in Alapulco and our tour is at 9 AM. Providing Debbie doesn’t snore again tonight, I will be asleep pretty soon. Until tomorrow…happy heartburn from Debbie and I.

Loved the story about going to the wrong dining room. We once did the same thing at a wedding reception in Fl. Actually ate the munchies had a few drinks and noticed we weren't recognizing anyone. Eventually I went to the Men's room and on the way back saw a couple of people we knew going into the correct identical ballroom down the corridor from the one we were in. I came back to Sue whispered in her ear and slunk out of there while trying to be cool retrieving our gifts from the presents table. Thanks also for the wind/snoring story. Sue accused me of horrendous snoring last night so if there is a repeat tonight I will blame it on the wind.
ReplyDeleteHave fun
Dave...sorry about not answering sooner. Just getting the blog posted and the photos uploaded each day was agonizing as the ship's internet was so slow. I was so mad by the time it finished I just wanted to get out of there.
